If Traveling on Business:

If you are applying for a single entry visa and you are a US citizen or a citizen of one of the following 27 developed nations:
A written statement for a visa from the applicant or business letter from a US based company.
Citizens of these 28 countries (including the USA) can be issued one month single entry official, tourist, business or private visa without an invitation.
For other nationals, an authorization from the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be required.
For Multiple Entry Business Visas up to one year validity:
A letter of invitation from a Kazakhstan based company, approved by the the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For Homestay visa (over a month but not exceeding 90 days stay):
Original OVIR permission.
Your relatives or friends in Kazakhstan should obtain an original invitation for you from the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and send it to your address in the USA.
An invitation letter from the Regional Departments of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan is required. This letter must be submitted by the Regional Departments of the Ministry of Education to the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of foreign Affairs. This authorization must be forwarded to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C.
